Welcome, students, to our Spring 2019 online class, Critical Approaches to Popular Literature and Film!
On this page I will provide you with the most important information you need to know in order to get started on the activities for our class together. Here I will point out some links to videos and other sites that will serve as our first day of class for the semester.
IMPORTANT! It will take you a couple hours or more altogether to see every one of these pages and videos, so get started right away. (Just imagine that we are all together on this first Monday of the semester going through this material together—because in reality we are!) I will present these links in the order I would follow were we in a classroom together in “real” time, but you can always come back and review any of them again later.
Here are the Introductory videos (total running time 2 hours 10 minutes; watch them all!):
- Introductory Video 1: Syllabus (31 minutes)
- Introductory Video 2: Books & Movies (19 minutes)
- Introductory Video 3: Assignment Schedule (9 minutes)
- Introductory Video 4: The Role of Hero in Our Course (10 1/2 minutes)
- Introductory Video 5: Creating Your Blog Site (Several Videos) (55 minutes for blog videos 1-3; the others can be seen later in the semester)
- Introductory Video 6: Posting Your Blog Link in Blackboard (5 1/2 minutes)
And here are the Class Webpages that I refer to in the above videos:
